<title><![CDATA[New Major Coming to Trinity]]></title>

<description><![CDATA[<P><FONT face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">On Tuesday, the University Senate passed a proposal allowing a new major on campus, the <STRONG>Bachelor of Arts in Corporate Communications.</STRONG>&nbsp; This degree divides credits between communications courses as well as business courses while maintaining the University core.&nbsp; </FONT></P>
<P><FONT face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">The proposals was brought forward by School of Business Dean Andrea Soberg and Communications Professor Bill Strom.&nbsp;The proposal came in response to a study that concluded most communications alumni end up in coporate communication careers, and as the degree includes already offered classes, does not add any expenses to the university.</FONT></P>
<P><FONT face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">The proposal was adopted unanimously and is the degree is the first of its kind in Canada.&nbsp; It is hoped that the new degree will be offered as soon as <STRONG>Fall 2010.</STRONG></FONT></P>
<P><FONT size=4><FONT face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><FONT size=3>Additionally, University Senate passed a proposal changing the title of the <EM>Faculty of Professional Studies and Performing Arts</EM> to the <STRONG>School of Arts, Media and Culture.</STRONG>&nbsp; The move was proposed by FPSPA Dean David Squires and is intended to offer better brand identity for its students.&nbsp; There is an additional hope that in the near future the School will expand to include graduate studies, probably starting with a <EM>Master of Arts in Communications.</EM></FONT></FONT><EM> </EM></FONT></P>]]></description>
